This past August a few of us attended a chili cook-off event run by United Contractors at the Alameda County Fairgrounds. I was invited last minute so I really didn’t know what to expect. Once we arrived, we were greeted with a circus act at the entrance, there were people juggling and people on stilts, and a marching band was playing. I must say it was a little weird but cool at the same time.
There were a bunch of tents set up for the chili tasting, a few games set up to play cornhole, and a game to try to lasso a bull’s horn that was attached to a cooler. The chili we tried was pretty good and the games we played were also fun. The best part of the whole event was having the opportunity to hang out with my co-workers outside of the office. I believe that these type of events helps with team building because we have a chance to talk to each other and hear each other’s perspective on work and other things outside of work. This was truly one for the books.
