After noticing some deficiencies in our workers’ understanding of hazardous waste labeling, placarding and manifesting requirements, we decided to add another level of training to our employees who actively transport waste and prepare shipping documents. With the help of Gil Prieto at Safety Management Systems, all Bayview hazardous materials endorsed drivers, as well as superintendents and management, recently attended DOT HM 181 training at the company warehouse. This training focuses on the requirements outlined in 49 CFR Sub Chapter C which contains all DOT regulations, specifically those dealing with the transportation of hazardous waste. This training will now join the list of other recurring trainings the company provides and will be renewed every 3 years or less if regulations change.
