Bayview Services is pleased to announce the purchase of Certified Blue Recycling, a full service C&D debris sorting facility, located in San Leandro, California.
As California looks to reduce the amount of material commonly destined for landfills, the state has begun imposing stricter requirements on how contractors can manage debris generated during their projects. Although the state requires a minimum diversion rate of 65% for debris generated on demolition projects, some bay area cities have imposed even stricter requirements. Many GC’s and their subcontractors have struggled with the material management, and reporting requirements that accompany these new ordinances.
Through the acquisition of Certified Blue Recycling (CBR), Bayview Services has added yet another division to the company to better serve the needs of our clients. CBR’s 2.2-acre C&D debris sorting facility is currently permitted to receive 170 tons of material daily, with plans to expand to 350 tons per day already approved by Alameda County. All material entering the facility is accurately weighed at the scale house, where weight tags are generated and tracked for each specific job location. Weight tags and reports are then provided to the customers for use in closing out their demo permits in the city where work is being done. Because CBR’s diversion rates are third party verified by the Recycling Certification Institute, our customers can feel confident that their project diversion reports are both accurate and verifiable.
With the acquisition of CBR also came an amazing team of people who now get to participate in, and benefit from the company’s ESOP program. As anyone who already works for Bayview can attest, employee ownership in the company brings with it not only financial gain but also motivates us to do our best to continue to help the company grow!
