Project Summary
The project consisted of mold remediation, lead and asbestos abatement, hard & soft demolition at multiple buildings at the University. Mold remediation was performed by removing damaged drywall from the heavy rains. Abatement scope included abatement of lead plaster ceilings & walls for the MEP trades and removing quarry tile with an asbestos waterproofing membrane. We also used our labor to assist with anchoring scaffolding into asbestos stucco walls with the scaffolding subcontractor. Hard demolition consisted of saw cutting and chipping new openings and removing non-asbestos quarry tile with mortar bed systems with light demo diesel-powered equipment. We also used a combo of dustless blasting and bead blasting concrete surfaces for new waterproofing installation. Soft demolition consisted of removing stucco walls for new waterproofing and the removal of storefront systems for new doors. We had a large crew due to working at multiple buildings and tight windows to accomplish the work so other trades could follow behind us. This was our first job with Whiting-Turner in southern California.
