Bayview Demolition was contracted to create new shafts and elevator openings in two nine-story buildings at 311 Airport Blvd. The work involved saw-cutting, concrete removal, and demolition of pan decking at multiple shaft and elevator locations. The project required careful management of material movement constraints and adherence to a tight schedule, which Bayview successfully navigated to complete the work efficiently and safely.
View ProjectThis project was conducted on an active campus within two historic buildings at the University of San Diego. Bayview performed comprehensive abatement of asbestos- and lead-containing materials, as well as interior and exterior soft and hard demolition. The project presented multiple challenges, including complex sequencing, a fast-paced schedule, and concurrent work areas with multiple containments. Despite beginning in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, the project was completed successfully, demonstrating Bayview’s expertise in managing complex, high-risk demolition and abatement projects in occupied historic facilities.
View ProjectBayview was engaged to support Lehigh Hansen with the removal of approximately 130,000 gallons of heavy fuel oil (HFO) from the main and double-bottom tanks aboard the vessel Golden Arrow. The defueling operations were part of the vessel’s reclassification. HFO was pre-heated using temporary boiler systems and transferred from ship to shore under Bayview’s over-water transfer notification system. The fuel was subsequently transported to a pre-determined reclamation facility. The project was completed on schedule and within budget, demonstrating Bayview’s expertise in complex marine fuel handling operations.
