Project Summary

This multi-floor, multi-location project involved both soft and hard demolition. Bayview removed and disposed of selective plaster walls to accommodate new glass storefronts and partially removed a roof slab, leaving rebar in place for the installation of a new steel canopy. The team also performed saw cutting and chipping of a concrete slab across four levels to facilitate a new escalator.

The first-floor slab presented unique challenges due to its 18-inch thickness and multiple active piping systems. Bayview carefully saw-cut the perimeter and chipped concrete around existing rebar and active electrical conduits, coordinating with other trades for safe electrical shutoff. Once clearance was achieved, a crash deck was installed on the floor below to safely catch falling concrete, demonstrating Bayview’s expertise in complex, high-risk demolition operations.
