Bayview was engaged to support Lehigh Hansen with the removal of approximately 130,000 gallons of heavy fuel oil (HFO) from the main and double-bottom tanks aboard the vessel Golden Arrow. The defueling operations were part of the vessel’s reclassification. HFO was pre-heated using temporary boiler systems and transferred from ship to shore under Bayview’s over-water transfer notification system. The fuel was subsequently transported to a pre-determined reclamation facility. The project was completed on schedule and within budget, demonstrating Bayview’s expertise in complex marine fuel handling operations.
