Project Summary
The 300 Lakeside Lobby Renovation was a complex, multi-phased demolition and abatement project located near Lake Merritt in Downtown Oakland. The renovation encompassed multiple floors of the occupied building, requiring all work to be performed while maintaining full lobby operations. To ensure safe access for building occupants, the General Contractor installed scaffolding tunnels and platforms, which Bayview enclosed within negative-pressure containments to maintain a controlled work environment.
The demolition scope included the removal and disposal of escalators, stone wall finishes, drywall and plaster partitions, gypsum board ceilings, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, concrete, metal pan decking, and steel framing. Asbestos abatement activities included the removal of terrazzo flooring, acoustical overspray, and drywall with joint compound, as well as the grinding of asbestos-containing terrazzo floors to prepare for new finishes. In addition, Bayview performed the removal of lead-containing paint from structural beams to facilitate welding by others.
