The site was a nine-story office building with an attached two-level parking structure. The project involved the removal of asbestos-containing materials and included the removal of all interior surfaces, leaving the building in a shell condition. Bayview was contracted to perform the abatement work and soft demolition of the nine floors and the basement level. Bayview removed the non-hazardous materials, such as carpet and T-Bar ceilings in advance of the hazardous materials abatement. Bayview worked multiple floors at a time to complete the scope. The window sealant contained PCBs, and so the windows were removed and packaged for disposal as hazardous waste. The scope of work included the abatement and demolition of the mechanical equipment within the penthouse mechanical room.
