Project Summary
Bayview Environmental managed the complete utility shutoff and installation of temporary power required for hazardous materials abatement. The project included the removal of asbestos-containing fireproofing, flooring, and thermal insulation throughout the building, including interior walls, ceilings, mechanical rooms, and beneath pavers to access asbestos-containing waterproofing. Additional hazards addressed included mercury, lead-containing materials, miscellaneous asbestos-containing materials, PCBs, and chemical waste.
To support safe site operations, Bayview performed exterior grading to construct a truck route and washing station, preventing mud and debris from impacting surrounding streets. The building was fully enclosed by a perimeter scaffold and interior courtyard scaffold, which was then shrink-wrapped to contain all hazardous materials and ensure environmental and worker safety.
