Project Summary
Bayview Environmental Services, Inc. was awarded the project for the cleaning and asbestos abatement for the Cal Trans project Buildings “A” & “B”. The scope of the base contract included decontaminating the interior of Building “A”. Building “A” was an existing laboratory where they performed soil and concrete testing. The entire building including the HVAC duct work and air handling units were contaminated with asbestos dust. The scope also included removing all the ceilings in order to access the contaminated duct work. The abatement of asbestos containing flooring and countertops were also encountered as part of the scope of work. The contaminated duct work was removed from both Buildings “A” & “B” under containment conditions.
The roof top air handling units were also cleaned and demolished on both buildings.
Bayview also performed an environmental decommissioning of the existing fume hoods, there were approximately 39 fume hoods that were decontaminated and then demolished. The fume hoods were wiped clean and Bayview performed verification sampling and documentation prior to the demolition of the units.
There have been numerous change orders associated with the project including collection and disposal of the e-waste, non-hazardous clean, soft demolition for Building “A” and the removal of the asbestos flooring and thermal system insulation in Building “B” to name a few.
Josue Torres was the superintendent assigned to this project along with Jamie Nuno who was the foreman that oversaw the entire scope.
